1. Each video submitted must be contestant's original work. Video may not exceed five (5) minutes in length. Speech, talk or communication may have multiple co-writers, but please designate one name only on the application. Contestant may submit as many videos as he/she wishes, but each entry requires a separate entry form and $50. entrance fee. One check or money order for multiple entries/categories is permitted. (Entrance fee is non-refundable. KC&CR&MC is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated entries. The KC&CR&MC is not responsible for faulty file uploads accompanying online entries.)
2. The Kalein Retreat will be conducting 4 retreats & master classes during 2009. Plans are to include songwriting, videography, screenwriting and the liturgy of the arts
3. Retreat is open to amateur and professional communicators.
4. Winners will be chosen by a select panel of judges comprised of noted comedians, writers and industry professionals. Talks will be judged based on originality, timing, content, and presentation. The quality of performance and production will not be considered. Acceptance will be awarded jointly to all authors of any routine. Void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
5. Only (6) communicators will be selected for this retreat.
6. Winners will be notified by e-mail and must sign and return an affidavit of eligibility/rights/publicity release within 14 days of notification date. The affidavit will state that winner's routine is original work and he/she holds all rights to the comedy. Failure to sign and return such affidavit within 14 days or provision of false/inaccurate information therein will result in immediate disqualification and an alternate comedian will be selected. Affidavits for winners under 18 years of age at time of award must be countersigned by parent or legal guardian. Affidavits subject to verification by KCC&R&MC and its agents. Entry constitutes permission to use winner’s names, likenesses, and voices for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation.
7. CDs, cassettes, and scripts will not be returned.
8. Winner Announcements: Will be made November 8, 2008. Announcements will be posted on Kalein.org and winners will be notified by e-mail. For more information contact Kalein@comcast.net
9. The retreat will begin on Monday, December 8 at 5pm and conclude on Tuesday, December 9 at 6pm. Cost will be $500 per person. This includes Master class, two nights lodging and food during retreat. Travel is not included.
